What you’re looking at here is a poor, poor Blazer that was botoxed against its will and kept in production all the way up until 2011. GM Brazil couldn’t let the S10 die the dignified death it deserved. 20+ years of service wasn’t enough. They just had to force its tired and creaky bones into one last generation.
Such a travesty. Is there a Humane Society but for cars that we can call to report this to? I feel like this shouldn’t have been allowed. It looks like a Forester with mumps.
Also apparently in some export markets there existed a Blazer with an Hombre front end so yeah I guess that’s a thing that exists.

What really strikes me is all the weird carryover bits from the previous gen., like the hatch and taillights.
![]() 06/10/2020 at 19:38 |

It is the same exact gen, they just changed the front end and added some weird-ass fender flares and called it a new model.

I think that's whats weird. Its so familiar, but so alien, all at the same time.

HOLD UP
Brown. Manual . Turbo. Diesel. Wagon(ish). 4WD.
And you dare call it “disgusting”? Please turn in your Oppo card at the exit.

Counterpoint:
It looks like a knockoff of a knockoff of a knockoff of a Subaru Forester.
![]() 06/10/2020 at 19:47 |

It somehow looks like both a minivan and an off-brand Subaru Forester at the same time
![]() 06/10/2020 at 19:48 |

Nailed it.
![]() 06/10/2020 at 19:50 |

But this is like a brown manual 4x4 diesel wagonish thing that is self employed without a retirement plan and is 10 years overdue for permanent Hawaiian beach vacation.

“Mom, can we have Subaru Forester?”
“We have Subaru Forester at home”

Reminds me of the Mexican Suburbans that got Silverado front ends for some reason.
The Blazer isn’t even scratching the surface of weird Brazilian Chevy SUVs that were kept alive for way too long, not when the Veraneio/Bonanza exist.
Which started out as a sixth-generation Suburban, rebadged for the Brazilian market, and then just kept getting facelifted. All the way until 1995.

Ah, yes. Those cateye ‘Burbs are a strange sight. I’ve posted about them before.

It looks like someone described a Forester to you over the phone and had you draw it.

That’s awesome . Stop the hate :o)
I also like the new Trailblazer that we don’t get over here, based on the new Colorado

Kind of reminds me of GAZ’s shenanigans.

love that Eddie Murphy bit...

The front end looks so droopy. The Hombre front end looks ok.

These are terrible and you should feel terrible for subjecting us to them.

T hat updated “styling” leaves a bit to be desired - but the vehicle itself is probably a super useful rig. They should have just gone with a cheap sealed beam headlight grill. My MIL had a Jimmy of that generation up here in the states and the 4.3 was solid for nearly 200k on gravel roads, etc until she pulled out in front of a semi - and then it probably saved her life. My only bugaboo with those was that the head room was crap for me - just didn’t fit very well.

Was there some kind of zr2 package? Sometimes the Brazilian off-road stuff is pretty cool.

No clue but the GMT400 was sold there as a Grand Blazer, which is just wrong.

I love it

You are surprised and horrified by the results of GM's relentless pursuit of other people's money. Why?
![]() 06/10/2020 at 22:07 |

They probably should have stopped with the 3110, that still had a solid, Volvo-like look to it.
![]() 06/10/2020 at 22:16 |

That first one looks way better than a regular Suburban.
![]() 06/10/2020 at 22:17 |

How does it actually look OLDER than a regular Blazer?
![]() 06/10/2020 at 22:22 |

I expect no thing from GM and yet I’m still let down.
![]() 06/10/2020 at 22:24 |

Honestly I think the Hombre front end is worse. It’s just so bland. You could slap any manufacturer’s badge on it and it would look sensible there . “A’hy up, that’s a 90's Nissan truck”
![]() 06/10/2020 at 22:40 |

While I agree it’s pretty nasty I think it’s cool all the random and crazy shit you see in Brazil that isn’t anywhere else. I believe VDub did this a lot as well. It’s almost like Warrioland or Bizarro World.

The best part about the GMT800 Suburban and Tahoe is that they were never subjected to that awful ANGERY EYES front end. I feel like GM owes Mexico an apology.

So many pedals, though!

You think Brazilians look at our cars, whip out an angle grinder, do a quick samba dance, and voila! They make an odd looking Chevy!

looks ok to me

I tell you what. The old Blazer in your picture with tho se updated tail lights and the 2.8 turbo from the Brazilian one is some thing I would buy. Even with the 4.3 V6. But the front end on the old US version is definitely better looking.
